| A while back, Tom contacted me to come up with some ideas for
his latest project, a '64 Buick Special wagon he had come across. Of course,
it's not a typical car... you don't see too many of them, and they are really
over-looked, having great clean lines, and lots of room to play... Naturally,
I jumped at the chance. Lucky for us, Tom chose a path that is as unique as the car itself, running the original six-cylinder... albeit with the snot built out of it... but performance was the main ingredient he was looking for, having owned another Buick prior to this (past Popular Hot Rodding feature car, no less) that ran like the dickens. Anyhow, a while back, Tom had sent a couple of snapshots of the wagon in-progess, along with the following: "Hi Brian Here is latest update on wagon. As I may have told you , I have decided right or wrong to get drive train done first then go to body and paint. Engine should be done this week, still Buick v 6, being built by TA Performance, the best Buick shop in country , and did last my motor. I have been prepping engine compartment and redoing wiring , Also have new Ididit column in and Gauges started. I will send details on engine and Pictures of it after I get it back. Still on track with 5 speed. On the evenings things don't go right when I'm working on the car , I still go to your drawings for inspiration to push on." Wow... my work serves as inspiration... I always thought it served as a warning of what happens when you zone out of math class and doodle cars. Go figure. At this point, the old girl is in paint, and coming together between work and home duties... Tom wanted to make sure that thanks were given out to Bo and Robbie over at Power Collision Center for their huge effort on the paint and body, and to Mike over at TA Performance, who took extra care on the engine between appeaarances on Overhaulin', and spending time on the phone with us at the Studio... The Copperhead Metallic Pearl paint does incredible things in the sun on those sharp lines, and having just taken delivery of some boxes from Air Ride, it's inching closer and closer to that magical maiden voyage. Looking good, and definiely looking to be one killer ride once completed... Keep checking back for updates, and watch your news stand for some ink as well! |
